CSHMH&I: Last Brick Set, A New Era of Healthcare Begins
The inauguration of the Chaudhry Sajjad Haider Memorial Hospital and Institute (CSHMH&I) marked a historic moment for the people of Gujrat, celebrated under the gracious presence of Chief Guest Ms. Nur Ul Ain, Deputy Commissioner Gujrat. She applauded the state-of-the-art hospital and emphasized how much dedication, commitment, and resilience are required to build a facility of this scale and purpose. She acknowledged the heartfelt efforts of Ch. Jawad, calling the hospital a true sadqa jariya, and expressed deep pride in parents who raise children like Ch. Ahmad Jawad, Chief Secretary (Retd.), whose vision and devotion have brought this dream to life. She further appreciated that the hospital will serve residents of eight mozzas, addressing a clearly identified gap in healthcare access for the underserved.
Guest of Honor, Mr. Naguibullah Malik, also addressed the gathering and praised the tireless efforts of Mian Ahmed Jawad and his team for presenting such a remarkable gift to their community. He emphasized that more private-sector leaders must step forward with similar initiatives, as political instability often prevents the public sector from investing in long-term, people-centered health projects.
Mr. Sohail Ayaz Khan, CEO CHEF International, delivered a detailed presentation on how this journey began with a generous donation and how it evolved into a dream realized. He shared that the founding spirit behind the hospital was shaped by Mian Tayyab Hassan, a respected civil servant and the first Chairman of the Hospital Management Committee, who passed away in February 2022. The project stands as a philanthropic healthcare initiative launched by the family of the late Chaudhry Sajjad Haider, in collaboration with CHEF International, to uplift and improve the well-being of the Gujrat community.
Mr. Ahmed Jawad, Retd. Federal Secretary, honored his father’s legacy, expressing that he always dreamed of doing something meaningful for the people of his area, and today, he feels proud to see that dream fulfilled.
Addressing the ceremony, Mr. Israj Gul, Administrator DRMC, highlighted the critical importance of eye health, noting that 36 million people worldwide are blind, and every minute five more lose their sight. He appreciated the establishment of this fully equipped, technologically advanced eye and general healthcare facility in Gujrat, recognizing it as a transformative step for marginalized communities who previously lacked access to quality care.
